Yeah it is. It will be coming home by April more than likely. They’re trying to finish it before their dyno day March 17/18. I’ll be flying out there if it’s done

Dont know if it matters, but the 65mm TB motor has different coil impedance compared to our stock one. When i took my 65mm TB apart after driving for a bit with the 65mm motor it smelled a bit burnt/hot. It could have been just a normal smell that brushed motors produce, but still.

I'll keep that in mind. Have you since switched back to OEM? Or did the smell go away and you left it?

I swapped the oem motor in. I had to adjust the holes a bit with a dremel. Make sure to tape up all of the vents on the electric motor if you start grinding those holes.

Turbo Blankets. What do you all recommend for a t4 9174 1.45a/r

I'm NOT going with Boost Resource since it ripped on me. It's hard to find anything that fits this turbo unless I've missed it. DEI? PTP? @Black E @mityaz what do u guys run?

Im on a boost resource blanket. It's on its second motor now, although i did not remove it during the swap.

Just out of curiosity, what runners diameter are you using for this new setup?

Why 9174 then? With a large A/R and large runners you are not maximizing the spool that the 9174 can provide.

Hell, maybe i need to step up to 1.5" runners to really let this baby flow. Im seeing 40+psi at 4500-4600rpm tho

Well it has worked so far and I guess I like trying to work on things that are a PITA? I'll have to dig up some logs and see what sort of boost I was seeing at x RPM

Why would you run smaller than 1.25" runners when making big power?

EDIT: @mityaz I looked at a couple logs and I was seeing 38psi at 5500ish rpm.

Well, i run 1.25" runners, .92 A/R and oversize valves. The idea is to get the exhaust gasses to the turbo wheel as quickly as possible. Once the gasses get a chance to spin the turbine wheel they need to be released as freely as possible. My tiny [relatively] housing combined with small runners start spooling that turbo very soon. Like i said 42psi at 4600RPM. But i can't hold more than 35-36 psi at 8000+ rpm because of my small housing. The housing becomes a restriction in my case. Exhaust manifold pressure forces the wastegate open no matter what i do. You will have and advantage on top for sure tho.

Exactly. It holds 40psi up top but it does have itís disadvantage down low. 4th gear was a riot!

Man, I don't miss that at all lol. Motor builds FTL.

Good luck though bud, I am hoping you get it together soon so you can enjoy it all summer.

I'll stick to house building which sucks just as much...

I hope so too! Goal is to keep it "turned down" so that I can hopefully keep it in one piece and enjoy it.

House building does suck. At least it's a much better investment though. Bought my first house back in September...it's never ending lol

That's why i feel ok about house building, investment wise it's great unlike cars. I do have a 4 car garage though, so i will need some cars to fill it someday.

Well the car I was going to buy (got a loan, cashiers check, etc) sold before I could get to it. The salesman I was talking to was going to take a deposit for the car, knew I had the money by providing him pictures, but never got back with me and it sold. Asshole.

Anyways, patiently waiting for an update on the motor....
