I believe so. We haven't welded any of the cage base down to the frame yet so can still rotate everything enough to do full welds everywhere.

Ah, that's good too, esp considering you're not gutting the doors.

Cage work is looking good. I can't wait to see the aero package. I don't believe I have seen an engineered aero package on a X yet.

we're actually doing a minor update to the front splitter design to incorporate his new infinity wings while the cage is being finished up.

Do you mind if I put this AMB Aero article in its own thread?

That is actually a great idea. Lotta BMWs setup like that from the factory (though its not a bar sticking out). Best goddamn way to work under a car imo, no stand in the way that you slam your head into as you try to crawl out. No way to fuck up anything under the car either as it's impossible to miss the jack point.

Looks good, and those jack points are awesome! One question though...why not go with nascar style door bars for driver? Looks likes it's pretty much a race car anyway

We didnt gut the doors and we are following pretty close an FIA cage design for the X that's using x bars. I've tried the entry and exit and it hasnt posed any issue

Why aren't you gutting the doors? Why not just strip the whole thing down? I see you still have sound deadening material as well.

I mean i'm not knocking it, i'm just curious as to why. I still have a full interior and i love it, personally. Sure i'm a good 200 lbs more portly but jesus is it nice. If it weren't for the loud exhaust the thing would still feel like a DD machine, even on track.

Did a trial plate yesterday to try out a different infusion method for cf. Very happy with the results. Found a couple areas where process can be improved a tad but overall easier then previously.

Nothing cool yet, sigh. I seem to have terrible luck. My fabricator shattered his tibia in 4 places last November and is only now out of recovery (needed multiple surgeries due to infections and whatnot) plus the shop that built my motor (Kaizen Tuning) shut down. I have gotten the new turbo and fuel pieces installed and get all the fluids changed out. Just waiting for my fabricator to be ready to take it on, plan was to do this over the winter to be ready for this season :/. Unfortunately, not too many places that would be able to take on this sort of project and maintain reasonable costs.

Did you go with a 90mm bore or a stroker to get to 2.2?
