I always wanted to do it but there where so many mechanical issues that should been taken care of first. Now that it seemed working fine I got there. Some better pics:

After some incedents of the coupler going to the throttle body, where it was popping out I decided to give a permanent solution

Last few days i ve been testing a full 4 inch turbo intake with great success until now. It is a custom, 1 piece billet velocity stack and MAF adapter unit.
Had to increase by aprox 35% the MAF scaling compared to the 3.5 inch intake. Fuel trims sit at +/-2%.
Idles and cruises perfect and the most amazing thing is the difference at WOT with 33 psi boost pressure.
It gained almost 45whp from 5500rpm and above. Seems that the turbo needed that extra air

Both virtual dyno plots are with the 4'' intake, 98Ron + Meth injection. There is some work to be done at the fuel, but still...

We didn't weight it but from feeling i would say it is aprox 800 grams (1.75lbs). It is much more heavy than if you had connected a VS with a MAF adapter in pieces.

I think thats what i did. I bought a solid aluminum velocity stack and it was super heavy. So i went the ugly route

As i can understand from the photo, your hole intake (including the tube) should be lighter than my single billet piece!!!
The MAF is still in a 3.5'' tube?

Yes, its very light. The whole tube is 4" and the funnel is 6"

The pulls where done at the exact same road.
    Blue line :
3.5 inch turbo Intake, 98Ron fuel only
    Red line :
4 inch intake, meth Injection (50/50 water - meth ), a bit more boost and a bit colder air temperature

IDC is at 95% and it can't be more rich up top, so I believe that I 've reached the limit of the 1300cc ID injectors and the limit of the stock 3bar MAP sensor.

I have about 7,000 miles to the car from the last motor build and changed the rod bearings. Old bearings look like this:

    IMG-208d7282b0d965bd73b337596e67b70c-V.jpg

Next plans for the car are :

Installation of GSC S3s along with Magnus exhaust mivec delete gear
Upgrading the fuel system with a surge tank and an in line external pump.
Do you guys have any idea regarding the fuel pump I should use? I would preffer a quiet version.
    Is the aeromotive eliminator quiet?

    Thanks.

The Magnus Exhaust Mivec delete housing seems like a well made piece along with the solenoid replacement part.
I m still waiting for some tappets to arrive from abroad for the full cams and gears installation. I 've also used some Chrysler tappets which by the way are exactly the same with the Mitsubishi ones . Still haven't decided what external pump should been used and made a separate thread for that. Any suggestions are really welcomed and appreciated.

Took the exhaust parts back from the shop where they did a ceramic coating with zirconium for heat management. This stuff comes only in white and grey and suppose to stand up to 980 degrees Celsius .

I had good and bad luck at the same time.
Bad news is that we 've ruined the exhaust wheel of the turbo when we tried to fit it in the turbine housing and tight the bolts.
Good news is that a friend had in stock a brand new EFR 9174 super core with the aluminium cartridge.

This thing has surprisingly less weight than the cast iron unit, more than 2 kg difference!!!

Since you have it apart... any way you can put a straight edge on the turbo or manifold T4 flange and see how much out of "perfect" it is?

Im going thru the process of resurfacing my flanges and can get it flat to .001-.0015". Im not sure if thats enough. Cant seem to find any info on whats acceptable.

Im really jealous of your aluminium CHRA lol

Sorry man, just came to the mechanic and he had already installed the turbo to the manifold.

    20181114_182753.jpg

Why do you ask? Are you considering not using a flange at all?

Well, i just want to resolve my flange issue while i have this apart. Want to have them as flat as possible so that the gasket doesnt keep blowing out

In theory you could flat out the turbine housing and manifold flanges and not use a gasket at all, but in the real world you can try to flat out the 2 flanges the better you can and use a multi layer gasket. I don't think that you can find somewhere the specs you need for a completely flat surface.

I have really bad luck here. The new 9174 aluminium turbo was defective. Just after 1 minute of the first start it began to leak from the compressor housing , turned out that there is a leak from the compressor wheel.

Does anyone experienced something like this before.
    Really disappointed at this time
