I basically was introduced to cars by living in Puerto Rico.My dad used to buy used cars and sell them so I kind of help and learn some stuff.

    000_1178.JPG

My first car was a toyota tercel 1.5L and I made a custom turbo kit from junk eclipse parts. That was my daily college car. Then I had a civic hatchback that I bought from a teacher. It had a 1.5L 8 valve engine and didn't even pass 35MPH due to a burnt head gasket accompanied by busted piston rings. Built the civic and moved to the states. I always wanted an Evo , no matter what year. Just wanted to put bolt ons and enjoy it. In 2015 finally found a 2008 GSR. One thing led to another and I set my goal to a 5ish whp evo.

This is how I bought the specimen.

    IMG_7594.jpg

    IMG_7595.jpg

I parked the car and started cleaning it. Removed the tinted windows and bought 2010+ Tail lights, oem trunk brake light, JDP lip, Eibach Springs, Enkei's and Tires.

At this point the car had all the bolt ons. Added a DF catch can, TIAL QR , Powder coated the valve cover gray ( just wanted to keep the gray oem look but clean). I also powder coated a lot of random brackets and bought the STM PS reservoir. Installed the MAP metal clutch master cylinder mod !

I enjoyed the car for a long time like this. Then 60,000 mile service time came by and I parked the car again and started collecting parts. At this moment I set my goal for a mid 500's street build. Bought pistons, rods, turbo, cams and etc... Long story short one of the oem sleeves was scratch and needed to be bored. Instead I went Darton because I didn't want to bore nor have to re-open the block again if I wanted more power.

The block was assembled by a local muscle car oriented machine shop. The engine was closed by APM in IL. They also tuned the car. This is how it currently sits. I haven't change anything in the exterior since I'm happy the way it looks.

    IMG_0226.jpg

When I go to the track I install that Password JDM headlight duct. Which in my opinion is not the best quality. I just like how it looks on the strip with it. And it shaves a couple of pounds

    IMG_4407.JPG-1.jpg

    IMG_4403-1.jpg

As of now I removed the calipers and sent them to powder coat. I installed a new OEM ported intake mani and sent the throttle body to be polished by mirror polishing in Springfield MO. And whenever I get a break I will install the evo 8 rear end that is sitting in the way. For next year I plan to re-tune and just try to hit 10's on the stock frame turbo. My best ET so far has been 11.02 but the car has trapped 128's so i might go out and run my self to loose i few belly pounds.

What made you choose APM over AMS or Boosting for the block and tune?

I've never heard of them tuning the X.

It was because they are the closest shop to my house. They mostly do 8's, 9's and Subarus. I called boosting but they moved out of Addison to Hoffman. AMS is now GTR and Porsche land. I Also liked APM's communication.

Thanks. They're about 30 minutes from my place and I'm picking up a spare block in the next week, so I might give them a shot.

Have you had any issues with the sleeves sinking?

Not at all, car feels good and for my power levels I feel safe that nothing will come out flying.

Received some pictures of my throttle. It's just a stock eclipse 3.8 throttle sent out for polishing. Even the screws are polished ! I'm super happy with the outcome.

Had some time off and decided to install some of the craiglist parts collected over the winter.

    Seibon oem style Carbon Diffuser

    IMG_5538-1.jpg

Fitment is ok once you tame that bastard in place. I bolted it under neath the car with 1/4-20" hardware because the clips don't work for me anymore.

    FullSizeRender.jpg

Chargespeed center piece with seibon grill. This one took a easy 2+ hours to get right. You have to measure and pre-drill everything to get it to fit "OK". I bought all of this used, If someone would have to pay full price for this I wouldn't recommend it. I feel that the fitment for the price should be wayyyy better.

    FullSizeRender-1.jpg

    IMG_5546-1.jpg

I had to remove everything from the bumper. The only thing that I left was the fogs. I'm overall satisfied with how it looks.

Re-tuned the car with the new ported intake manifold, eclipse throttle body and ETS big maf adapter. Fuel is speedway pump E80 or whatever percentage it wants to give you that day. I plan to retune on a cooler day to see if we can round it up to 550. Boost is set at 33 tapering to 29. Turbo is still the ATP GTX3576R gen 1.

Watched your 1/4 video. How much boost are you launching with? Sounds almost like just rev limiter and a little boost? Just trying to prepare for my track day this weekend. Are you preloading with ebrake?
