Razorlab took care of posting it. I didn't realize we could get so much stuff through Dodge.

These Dodge tappets are exactly the same with the original Mitshu ones?
With the same coating and stuff?

Equivalent, but not identical. From what I recall.

When it came to the 4b11 and 4b12, there was a joint project (similar to the diamond star project) where Hyundai, Dodge, and Mitsu worked together to develop the engine. From what i understand, the blocks and heads are mostly identical, with each manufacturer making tiny changes to suit their needs for each model. There are a lot of parts between manufacturers that should be either functionally similar, or identical. I mean, even the base model lancer tappets should work i think.

Which makes me think...... Why hasn't anyone with a 4b11t Genesis done 500 hp yet?? Even if they came with weaker internals, an evo engine will literally swap right in, bellhousing and all.

One of these days, when i tackle my 240z project, i'll probably swap in an evo 4b11t and mate a genesis RWD transmission to it. Lighter than an LS Juan, similar power potential!

4b11 in the gen coupe has a very different block where it counts like structural webbing and bearing mains.

As far as 500hp, been done many years ago already. A simple google search would have shown you many of them.

Here is one from eight years ago with 580whp+ https://genesisforums.org/engine-tur...#/topics/23692

having tore apart both the mitsu 4b11t and the Hyundai Genisis theta engine there is alot of differences actually. The overall desgin/layout is the same yes but Hyundai designs it alot more to there needs.

Hyundai design is not as over built as the mitsu version.

You have to compare maximum crank output on the blocks not wheel(Entirely different drive train layouts/power train loses)

P.S. Hyundai does not call it a 4b11t there versions are called theta and theta 2. Hyundai names there engines after greek words (theta, beta, delta, lambada, Alpha Etc etc)

Hyundai uses numerous different configurations of the GEMA desgin more so then mitsu or dodge actually. There still updating and tweaking there desgin alot actually compared to the other 2 which have let the GEMA engine mostly slide.

all good wasn't mean as a jab.

Often I wonder if some of the new design features that Hyundai adds could be retro fitted to the 4b11t(GDI, New cam phaser design)
