Question 2017 Outlander Navigation head unit in 2015 Evo?

    Mitsubishi-Outlander-Rockford-Fosgate-Touchscreen-Display-d.jpg

So previously the Outlander and Evo shared navigation head units. Now there is no more Evo but the 2017 Outlander has a nice new Navigation head unit with CarPlay and androidauto etc. Anyone think this will work in a 2014+ Evo? The physical fit should be the same.

This sounds like a good idea. I still have a 15 evo and would like to give it a try.

Just wait on Metra. If the MITO-03 harness is compatible then I'd say you have a good chance of it being plug n play

I'm more interested in getting a functional ECO MODE button in my Evo.

This image shows the previous MMC navigation head unit that was used in both the 14-15 Evo and 14-16 Outlander. So the physical size appears to be the exact same.

@Fastrax04 good idea checking to see if aftermarket harness is the same

But will the dealer let you order it since it is new?

Looks like the mounting brackets part number has changed around 2014~2015, the new part numbers are 8701a505 and 8701a506. Perhaps the mounting position in the head unit is different?

If the mounting brackets for a 2016 Outlander GT with Nav are the same as a 2017 then it should physically fit an Evo with the 2014-2015 Nav mounting hardware because the 2016 Outlander Navigation is the exact same as the 2014 & 2015 Evo Navigation head unit.

Also stands to reason if the OEM wiring harness for a 2016 Outlander GT and 2017 are the same then the Navigation head unit would also have to have the same connectors, but chances of at least some other changes to the wiring harness somewhere seem high.

I'll call around to some Mitsu parts departments on the weekend if I have time.

As far as I know the 2008 style as pictured above is basically the same software but has slight physical differences such as the button placement.

These nav units suck... I have it... and I hate it. Can't wait to replace it with an Android unit.

Any update on this? Anyone successfully do the swap?

I currently swapped a 2019 Outlander Nav into my 2015 Evo. It was plug and play for the most part, Radio works, Bluetooth connects and can stream music. Still need to test steering wheel controls (will do that today when I get off work). As of right now the microphone is not being recognized and says bad connection to contact dealer. Anyone else have this issue and found a work around?

Also does anyone have the part number for the usb cable and port for the headunit? Need to order that to test the CarPlay and Android auto feature.

This was definitely dead but I would like to do that swap, or at least the 14-15 swap if I can get my hands on the appropriate year MMCS

I have not done it yet but am still planning to. Seeing that picture of it installed and having power gives me motivation!
