WTF WK2 SRT Jeep Single Turbo Build

What you see here is a BorgWarner S300SX-E 9180 w/ 69 mm compressor inducer AKA S369. It shall be going on my personal 2014 Jeep SRT for moar powah... tired of only being able to run a 14.0 flat up here at 4500 ft.

It'll be fueled by 8x ID725 injectors and tuned using HP Tuners. All fabrication work will be done in-house by Colton the APE (Aftermarket Performance Engineer).

I still have to pull the fuel pump unit to determine if/how it can be easily upgraded.

Charge piping will be aluminum, all hot side piping will be 304 stainless and will mate right up to my existing catback and the factory headers.

    Stay tuned.

Because they're like $800 so I can always upgrade later... no plans on building the 392 yet. I want to prove that 8 PSI can be run on the stock engine without upgrading the pistons. It's all in the tuning, and these Mopar guys just don't get it. It just needs to be run fat and I guarantee it'll never pop a piston.

Plus, it's 105 lb/min capable and I'd like to have full boost at 3000 RPM.

I'm super excited to do a turbo project on something other than an Evo X. Wait until you see the wastegate we're going to be using LOL

Yeah it's fun to do bespoke stuff. We have a couple builds in right now that I get to use my imagination on and I'm pumped.

We did a twin turbo kit on a Challenger last year, those things are a nightmare.

What were the challenges on it, if you don't mind me asking? Curious because this is a 6.4 Hemi so very similar platforms.

We're going to be using the stock cast manifolds and routing them back 180 degrees to the single turbo.

Space. He went with twin low mount turbos, twin Comp oil-less units. Then plumbing everything back up to the front of the car wasn't an easy chore, you have to get pretty creative.

    Pics you shall have...

We've got the following so far:

    - Injectors
    - Turbo super core (CHRA + compressor cover)
    - Turbine housing (divided T4, just 'cause it was in stock)
    - Turbosmart giant 60 mm wastegate
    - T4 flange
    - TiAL QRJ which will be VTA since these cars are SD

And I've got a running mental list of all of the fab components we'll need... most coming from Vibrant and Columbia River Mandrel Bending. Just need to decide on the FMIC configuration.

i've heard of these other borg warner turbos used in obscure builds. Can you provide some deets on these turbos and how they fit in with the EFR line in terms of spool and power?

They're all equally capable. HP Tuners is our choice for domestic tuning due to the number of platforms supported. You'll find other top WK2 tuners out there have made the switch as well.

    This is the turbo: http://www.full-race.com/store/turbo...180-69mm.html/

I can't really compare to what this would do on an Evo. Apples to apples, it would spool up slightly slower than the EFR 9180 and would have slower transient response in not having the titanium aluminide turbine wheel and ball bearing CHRA. But I have 6.4 L displacement to play with and will only be running 8 PSI for now, so who cares? lol

Guys typically use even larger turbos (75 mm compressor inducer, for example) on the 6.4 Hemi which I think is silly because none of them are going for 1200 WHP. My smaller footprint choice (capable of up to 1000 WHP) will prove to be advantageous in fitment, I'm sure.

It's kind of like how diesel guys run 5" exhausts to make 500 WHP... #DomesticLogic

Threw in some ID725's yesterday. Quite a simple job on a Hemi... I like it. Need to find some way to de-pressurize the return-less fuel system next time, though.

ID doesn't have characterization data for this exact platform, but they did have offset data that worked and adjusting for the slope of course is just basic math. Whipped up some settings and flashed the Jeep for the first time; she fired right up and idled and drove perfectly with +/- 5% fuel trims everywhere. Drives just like stock. Injector Dynamics FTW...
