    GSR Trans/T-case Whine?

I just started noticing a whining noise coming from an unknown source whenever I'm decelerating with the clutch in. This isn't normal, right? I've never heard it before and I'm worried something got messed up after some hard launches at the drag strip yesterday. It's really noticeable when going slow and coming to a stop and it only makes noise when the clutch is pressed in, whether it's in gear or not.

It hasn't affected driveability of the car as far as I can tell, so maybe there's just something rubbing underneath the car somewhere?. I haven't been able to get under it to look yet, but will be able to check everything out next weekend.

Please don't tell me my trans and/or T-case is fucked...

Since it's clutch specific, maybe your TOB took a beating? Shootin from the hip here.

No noise when stationary with the clutch in?

^No noise when the car is stationary. I've only been able to hear it when decelerating at low speeds. I want to say there's just something rubbing under the car, but the sound seems to be more mechanically related, like drivetrain noises in rally cars.

After driving it around a bit more I found out that the whining noise will happen in first gear with the clutch out, too, but it's more pronounced when the clutch is in. The strangest part is sometimes the noise won't happen at all (typically after the car is warmed up) or it will whine for a few seconds then stop on its own, whether the clutch is in or out. So confused...

Just crossing my fingers that nothing expensive is broken.

I'd say change your fluid and look for anything chunky. If it IS potentially catastrophic, you'll catch it before it's a total loss and it can be rebuilt.

Others on here have much more experience with this symptom than I do.
